
Term 1
Children with special needs in mainstream schools are visited by a trained special needs teacher.
Programmes are planned with the classroom teacher and methods to maximise inclusion are implemented.
Teacher aides are up-skilled.
Paicey is progressing well.

She enjoys working in school.
Brittany is proud to be working independently supported by her teacher aide when necessary.

Term 2
It’s great to go out each week to see the students working through their programmes and achieving their learning intentions.
Paicey is beginning to work independently for short periods of time.

She does a great job of counting out the correct number of objects all by herself!!
Kees is trying very hard to make the "l" sound, he practices everyday!

When Kees finishes working hard he gets to choose an activity from the bag which is his favourite time!
Term 3
Recently Paicey has been introduced to the TEACCH system. It encourages her to work more independently and experience success. Her work station is set up in the classroom.

Paicey takes each picture off the timetable in order and matches it to the picture on the tray.

She then takes the tray with the activity to the table and works independently.

When Paicey completes the activity she returns the tray to the work station and takes the next picture and corresponding activity. This is working well in the classroom setting and Paicey loves it!
TERM 4

It’s that time of the year again, shops are filled with Christmas decorations and gifts. As part of Paicey’s life skills programme she is developing skills to enable her to go into and enjoy her community.

The warehouse has been a difficult environment for Paicey, she now enjoys “looking with her eyes” at all the exciting toys and stays with an adult.

She waits patiently at the checkout and greets others she meets with a friendly ‘hi’!
