What Physiotherapists do at Patricia Avenue School

We are involved in every aspect of school life from in class learning to school trips, events and camps.

We support physical independence for all students at all levels alongside whaanau and the classroom staff.

 

We do this by

• Provision of individual programmes in classes
• Provision of specialist swimming programmes
• Providing a range of walking and standing equipment for students to participate in school activities
• Liaise with whaanau about footwear and orthotics
• Liaise with whaanau and support with outside agency visits e.g. wheelchair and seating, orthopaedics, post-surgical input
• Advise on adaptations of health and PE programmes including trike riding programmes
• Assessment and ordering of equipment
• Provide training and workshops for staff
