Thursday 19th June
We celebrated the beginning of Matariki with a special hāngī for our senior students and their whānau. Senior students from our satellite classes — Marian, Cambridge, Fairfield, Mangakōtukutuku, and the Transition Unit — travelled to our Base School to join Base Senior classes in the festivities, which included a wonderful performance by our Kapa Haka group.
In the lead-up to the celebration, students worked hard to create impressive artwork and designs, which were proudly displayed in the multipurpose room for families to admire.
A heartfelt thank you to all our senior student whānau for your support — from donating supplies to helping with the preparation and clean-up. A special mihi to those who came in on Wednesday and Thursday to assist in getting everything ready for the big feast.
Our junior school also took part in celebrating and learning about Matariki. Each class created beautiful artwork, and waiata could be heard throughout the school as the students shared their songs and learning.
